The West London Islamic Centre hosted it’s second Youth Careers event entitled ‘Meet, Munch & Learn’ on Saturday 5th December 2015.
Some 50 local teenagers, male and female attended and were engaged by a day that they will remember well into their adult lives Insha’Allah. In a time of heightened youth unemployment, such events are essential in enabling better prospects and hope for young people.
The event provided personal guidance to young people in Ealing from positive professional role models, on how to succeed in their studies and future careers. Also emphasised was the importance of civic responsibilities and contributing positively towards the local community.
Youngsters got to experience great skills workshops, focussing on teamwork, communication and presentation skills. Attendees also benefited from a study skills and CV clinic.
After numerous culinary delights, attendees were treated to inspiring speeches from Abid Ali – an accomplished journalist from Al Jazeera, as well as Lubna Khan – Ealing’s only Muslim Headteacher from Berrymede Junior School.
The event was very well received by attendees who were treated to vouchers to the popular local steak restaurant Meat & Shake.
WLIC would like to thank the Youth committee, all volunteers, speakers, caterers and Meat & Shake for helping make this event a great success. Anybody interested in receiving soft copies of some of the presentations made on the day, can email [email protected]
