Help one another in righteousness and good works, but help not one another in sin and rancour: fear God: for God is strict in punishment. [Al-Qur’an 5:2]
Our very own Br Kashif Ali will be participating in the 42k Dubai Marathon to help raise funds for the WLIC Re-development. Br Kashif grew up in Ealing and his father Uncle Ali is a founding member of the Centre. Having gained his degree in Advanced Mathematics and professional qualifications, he taught math’s at Ellen Wilkinson High Scool before moving to Qatar.
During a call in late December Br Kashif said, ‘ I grew up in Ealing, the Centre has played an important role in my early Islamic learning, nothing will please me more than to see this project succeed. No doubt it is a intrepid vision and massive undertaking, which requires steadfastness and patience, but our faith and duty to our community and society demand that we leave a legacy which will fulfill the needs and requirements of the community for generations to come.’
The Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon is one of the key highlights of the sporting and social calendar in the region. It hosts some of the world’s best elite runners, who compete to win a prize purse worth over $500,000.
To be held on January 27 the 2012 edition of the classic 42.195km race will now see the 14,000 runners start beside The Pavilion in Downtown Dubai, in the shadow of the imposing Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building , before heading along the spectacular, 3.5 km Emaar Boulevard and then onto Doha Street with The Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping and entertainment destination
As in previous years, the runners will once again tackle the flat stretch along the Beach Road past the Jumeirah Beach Hotel and return along the same route before passing The Dubai Mall and finishing approx 1km before the entrance to the Burj Khalifa.
Br Kashif is currently training daily and intends to finish the race in a good time. Please be part of his effort and Insha’allah we can benefit and gain reward from every step, breath and pain he endures for this noble cause.
