Appeal for Haiti Earthquake Victims

As we know a massive 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck the small Caribbean nation of Haiti on Tuesday 12th January 2010. It primarily affected the cities of Port-au-Prince, Carrefour and Jacmel, all located in the West Province area which has an estimated population of 2.2 million - Tens of thousands are feared dead and millions affected.

The UK Islamic Mission launched an emergency appeal through its network of UK Mosques on Tuesday afternoon. The West London Islamic Centre has so far raised over £500 locally and its appeal is still on going.

Funds will be sent via sister organisations and humanitarian relief agencies to provide shelter, food, restoring water, sanitation facilities and providing medical care for those most in need.

Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere and has suffered a number of recent disasters, including four hurricanes and storms in 2008 that killed hundreds. Please support us in this effort, you can donate in person at the office or donate online via Muslim Aid

'...And he who saves a life shall be as if he had given life to all mankind' [Al-Qur'an 5:32]

The Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) said, \'How wonderful is the affair of the believer, for all his affairs are good, and that is for no one except the believer. If something good happens to him, he expresses gratitude, and that is good for him, and if something bad happens to him, he bears it with patience and is thankful and that is good for him also.\' [Sahih Muslim]
